type='text'>The Era Of Responsibility</title><content type='html'>Remember back in the days when you were expected to be responsible for your own life? What has happened in our society that now you are expected to be responsible for everyone else? I am disgusted by grown men and women who stick their hands out and beg a specific lifestyle from the government. What happened to the stigma tied to such behavior? Where is our shame?&lt;br /&gt;There is nothing wrong with a little shame. It causes you to work harder to avoid it. Recently however, hard work is the thing which is stigmatized and "societal victim" status is worn like a badge of courage. We treat "single-by-choice" mothers like Medal of Honor winners and welfare recipients like a national treasure. Meanwhile, successful CEO's, small business owners, and self-made millionaires are lambasted and vilified.  The era of responsibility has gone by the wayside only to be replaced by an overreaching sense of entitlement.&lt;br /&gt;Sure, I feel a sense of entitlement. I feel entitled to the basic freedoms which are outlined in our founding documents. I believe they are "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness". I don't believe they are "health care, home ownership, free education, and a government handout". In fact, I think these are akin to spraying Roundup on your vegetable garden. It kills all future production.&lt;br /&gt;We have just saddled our children and grandchildren with an unimaginable debt load. That one act of entitlement-mentality greed is analogous to child abuse. We are mortgaging our future generations to satisfy our personal wants. Who is going to support all of them? Who is going to help them get out of the economic nightmare we are creating? We won't have to do it. We can't do it. Were too busy feeling sorry for ourselves and playing the role of victim.&lt;br /&gt;This entitlement-mentality is the culmination of years of granting victim-status to the very people who are perpetrating the crimes. The "single-by-choice" mother who condemns her child to exponentially higher suicide, homelessness, crime, and poverty rates; the "fit but lazy" welfare recipient who lives off the backs of hard working Americans; the "I deserve a home" sub prime borrowers who destroy the equity in everyone home; and the "health care is a right" crowd who, if they are allowed, will saddle doctors and nurses with work while looking at you to pick up the tab.&lt;br /&gt;The era of responsibility is dying the death of a thousand blows. Is there no one to fight back? We complained, fretted, moaned, whined, yelled, and screamed. We insisted and demanded. Did they listen? No. They passed that pork-laden stimulus bill (which contains no stimulus) and did so with the help of three RINOs. Senators Collins, Snowe, and Specter have dealt a final blow to our economy and, if I have anything to do about it, their careers. It's too late, we failed. Newsweek proclaims that we are all Socialists now.&lt;br /&gt;Are we Socialists? Are you a Socialist? No, we are not and now is the time to prove it. Did we fail? We lost a major battle here, but this stimulus package is only going to hurt the economy and as a result, Obama's chances at reelection. Are we too late? No, I believe we are just getting started.&lt;br /&gt;I am an optimist. I think this is the perfect setup to prove once and for all that Conservative principles work. Before we do that, we have to win. John McCain showed us that being a moderate is a losing strategy. So, lets go out there and win. Let's adopt a playbook which will destroy the Democrat party for a generation. How do we do this? The same way they did it to us. We will destroy their institutions, like the media; we will demonize their ideology; we will annihilate their kook fringe groups; we will shame the recipients of government money; and we will toss the Socialists out on their collectivists butts. Even when they are in power, they are weak because they are weak-minded. We are strong. We are intelligent. We will not lose this war. We are Conservatives.&lt;br /&gt;Is it over? Most emphatically not! The advertisement was indicating that whatever widget they happened to be selling could be purchased for an extra low price because there was no one between the manufacturer and the consumer. That is, there was no distributor, thus there was no reason to pay a distributor. The manufacturer was happy for selling to a larger client base and the consumer was happy for getting such a great price. They would then surely take their widget home and show it to their neighbors while bragging about what a great negotiator they are and everyone was full of joy.&lt;br /&gt;What are you talking about Brian? Ok, ok... I'll get to the point. What possible reasoning could the government have for being the middle man in our economic stimulus? We all work and pay taxes. The taxes pay for things like roads, bridges, schools, F-22 fighter attack squadrons, and artificial turf for the National Mall, right?&lt;br /&gt;According to President Obama,  on Jan 28 in the White House East Room, "business, not government, is the engine of growth in this country." (More on this in an upcoming article entitled "The Reagan Mask") If business is the engine of growth in this country, why is there a middle man between business and its own money? It doesn't make sense and is in fact detrimental to growth, that government should confiscate money from business via a world record breaking 35% tax, only to return it to them with incentives or keep it via government expansion. Wouldn't the country be better served by allowing businesses to keep more of what they earn to employ people rather than have the government do it? After all, business, not government, is the engine of growth in this country.&lt;br /&gt;It seems wholly illogical to me to allow an economic distributor to come in and reapply that money for transient and low-paying jobs, as directed by the Obama stimulus plan, when we have a host of businesses eager to apply it to permanent and higher-paying jobs.&lt;br /&gt;I asked earlier what reasoning the government could have for this proposal. The only possible reason I could come up with is power. They want to control business. They want to control opportunity. They want to control you. How do I know this? Well, it's the only thing that makes sense. If Obama really wanted to stimulate the economy, he could do so easily by cutting corporate income taxes; this is not only common sense but historical fact. If he wanted to control you, he would take as much of your money as he could get his hand on and then tell you what you must do in order to get it back, which is exactly what this economic pork bill is all about. This bill is about control and the best way to do it is by making themselves the middle man.&lt;br /&gt;The good news is, you don't have to let them do it. You can still retain control, but you have to act. The Obama stimulus bill has passed the House (with zero Republican votes), but it still needs to go through the Senate. You have a louder voice than you think you do. Call the Senate and tell them not to vote for this monstrosity. Tell them instead to cut the corporate income tax and the capital gains tax. I thought I was going to have to watch my country be systematically dismantled by extreme left policies enacted without opposition. Republicans were kow-towing, laying down, and wishing Obama success left and right. But this evening, they voted unanimously against the Obama destroy capitalism bill. Congratulations House Republicans, you are showing signs of hope (and might I add, change).&lt;br /&gt;It is vital that we show strong opposition to Obama's left wing policies. If the right opposes what is going on, the Democrats will have no room to try to blame us for the inevitable failures. They pointed at Reagan for overspending in the '80's even though the President is not responsible for Congressional spending. They took credit for the balanced budget in the '90's even though the President is not responsible for Congressional spending. They blamed Bush for the current recession even though, you guessed it, the President is not responsible for Congressional spending; or in this case, the President is not responsible for forcing banks to loan money to people who don't have the means to pay it back.&lt;br /&gt;But that does not have to happen this time. If Republicans stick together in direct and loud opposition to socialism, the responsible party will be the party that pays. Tonight, House Republicans did just that, saying in a loud, unanimous voice, "We will not own the result of this massive spending bill." Now, lets see what happens next. Is it because the "burden" of a child is an economic strain? Is it because murder "empowers" people? Tell that to the victims. Oh wait, you can't because they're dead.&lt;br /&gt;The ban, which is called the Mexico City Policy because it was unveiled there at a U.N. conference in 1984, was criticized because it supposedly "reduced health care for some of the world's poorest women." Silly me, I thought health care was employed to eradicate disease. Is pregnancy now a disease? Are children to be thought of as similar to such health woes like cancer, AIDS, and heart disease?&lt;br /&gt;This is sickening and exposes the cold heart of our newly elected President. There are none in our world more innocent, dependent, and helpless than an unborn child and Obama has just opened the floodgates on your tax dollars to destroy them on a global basis.&lt;br /&gt;Since Roe v. Wade was decided on in 1973, almost 50,000,000 abortions have taken place in the United States alone. 11,000,000 of those dead children were black. That sounds a lot like genocide to me. This genocide can be placed squarely on the shoulders of Democrats like Barack Obama.&lt;br /&gt;We condemn Hitler for what we call the "evil" of the Holocaust. He is now the standard bearer for for all that is bad in the world. Rightly so, but abortion is worse than the Holocaust because the victims are helpless; it has been going on for decades longer; and it has killed almost 5 times as many people, all of them children. Women are lured into it by calling it "health care" and saying abortion "empowers" them. If you kill your child, it will make you a more "empowered" and independent woman? Am I the only one who thinks that it cold, evil, and cruel? It looks like Obama and his Democrat minions have a "final solution" of their own.&lt;br /&gt;Well America, you now have the obligation to pay for what you believe to be morally repugnant. That is offensive to me and I simply will not stand for it. I hope you will not stand for it either. Forward this blog to everyone you know. All who read this and are as offended as I am need to call the White House and let them know what you think. This did not come as a surprise to me. They've been talking about spending massive amounts of money for quite some time now. &lt;br /&gt;The "tax cuts" include breaks for low income earners and include people who don't currently pay any income tax. Now, remind me again... what's the difference between that and welfare? Isn't allowing yourself to be purchased by the federal government the same thing as slavery? No need to answer, I'll do it for you - Yes, it is.&lt;br /&gt;The inclusion of welfare into the "stimulus" bill doesn't surprise me either. We have known for some time now that Democrats are keen on creating and maintaining a dependent class of citizens.&lt;br /&gt;The Democrats would rather mail you a check than cut your taxes. You see, cutting taxes might actually stimulate the economy, plus you run the risk of not brainwashing people into thinking of the government as a source of money. No, they can't do that. They would rather hold the power than allow someone like you the opportunity to spend the money you earned the way you see fit. Again, this is no surprise to me, the Dems have always been power-hungry.&lt;br /&gt;What did surprise me was Republican Senator Mitch McConnell's response to it. Was he angry, insulted, or frustrated? No. Was he emboldened to do the right thing, argumentative, or combative? No, he was quite agreeable saying, "Everybody believes that government's action is necessary..."&lt;br /&gt;Well, Mr. Senator, I guess I'm not part of "everybody" because I don't happen to believe that particular brand of nonsense. Rather I believe that government would better serve us by doing nothing. A free market can sort itself out much better left alone. I am in agreement with Ronald Reagan when he said, "Government is not the solution. Government is the problem."&lt;br /&gt;Republicans need to stop sounding like Democrats and start sounding like Republicans again. If this keeps up, Hollywood and the mainstream media are going to go nuts trying to figure out who to hate. I'm not worried though, I do not share their dilemma. I am a Conservative, a Christian, and a patriot. I know the difference between the genuine Republicans and the false ones. &lt;br /&gt;A real Republican stands by his principles, even when the storm is raging around him. A false Republican will go wherever the winds of popularity carry him, even if it means abandoning his so-called principles. Well, I hope they enjoy it while it lasts because the time is going to come when America will no longer tolerate unprincipled leadership. When that time does come, the only ones left will be the strong and unwavering few. It depends on your goals. If my goal is to drive from New York to California, I can claim the trip was a success if I arrive in California, regardless of how long it took and how much it cost to get me there. &lt;br /&gt;There are Republicans left and right who keep saying that they want President Obama to be successful and I have to confess that I don't know what that means. There are two basic reasons for my confusion.&lt;br /&gt;First, I don't know what Obama's goals are. Does he want the war in Iraq to end in victory, or just end? Does he want America's economy to be stronger and healthier, or is it just an excuse to grow the government? Does he want America's health care system to be the envy of the world, or would he be just as happy to see it nationalized even if that exacerbates the problem instead of solving it?&lt;br /&gt;Second, I don't know how Obama measures success. Would he describe the expenditure of a trillion dollars on an economic stimulus plan a success, or does it have to actually stimulate the economy? Will he point at the establishment of a shiny, new government agency and call that a success, or does the agency have to meet its objectives? In four years, will he look back at the actions taken as evidence of success, or will he point to the effects of those actions as evidence of success.&lt;br /&gt;I can't honestly say that I want Obama to succeed until I understand what that means. Judging from what I know of him and his career in Chicago, I can tell you that I will probably never want Obama to succeed because success for Obama is failure for America. &lt;br /&gt;I also don't trust anyone who blindly states that they want someone who campaigned on changing the nation to succeed. Especially considering the fact that we really have no idea what it is that he wants to change. If he wants to nationalize health care; I hope he fails. If he wants to cut taxes; I hope he succeeds. If he wants to throw more money at a failing education system; I hope he fails. This is not news to anyone who does not live in a cave devoid of TV, computer, Blackberry, or that old-fashioned standby, the newspaper. Only a little more newsworthy is the fact that we've been here before.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;1920 - The United States entered a recession in the wake of The Great War (WWI). The American economy, being chiefly agricultural at the time, saw an increase in production after the war ended and the troops returned home to resume their pre-war lives. This increase in production caused a dramatic drop in farm prices and an increase in unemployment. President Warren G. Harding, being a free-market conservative, responded with very little government intervention. Within a short period of time, the economy began the natural shift from being predominantly agricultural to industrial. It was able to do this because the government largely stayed out of its way. The result was the almost decade long boom we now refer to as "The Roaring Twenties".&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;1929 - The stock market crash on October 29, 1929, which brought about the Great Depression, has been blamed on everything from Capitalism run amok to the Federal Reserve System. Since Capitalism run amok tends only to bring prosperity, I believe it was the latter. Regardless of its cause, the Great Depression lasted for (arguably) 17 years. Why so long you ask? Government intervention is the obvious, but seldom reported answer. FDR finished what Hoover started. Following the crash in 1929, Hoover asked business leaders to not cut wages during the impending recession, thus impeding the private sector's ability to correct for falling revenue. In 1930, Hoover decided to ignore the advice of nearly all of the economists of the day and signed the Smoot-Hawley bill into law which raised tariffs an average of 59% on more than 25,000 products. As a result of this highly intelligent plan, the rest of the world practically shut down the American export industry. Hoover went on to establish the Reconstruction Finance Corporation whose job it was to supply troubled businesses with low interest loans and bailout money. (sound familiar?) Predictably, this plan did not succeed and most of the businesses involved either went into bankruptcy or were saddled with enormous debt all throughout the '30's.&lt;br /&gt;Then FDR became President and set up the National Industrial Recovery Act, the government's own central planning agency, which acted to keep wages high while establishing minimum product pricing. This killed the ability of businesses to compete in the marketplace which translated into even higher unemployment. The jobless rate averaged 18% from 1933 to 1940 compared to the 7% we are complaining about now. He then decided to target food. In an effort to raise farm prices, he paid farmers to either limit production or not produce anything at all, theorising that lower supply would increase prices. To complete his plan, he had to do something about the food that was already out there. The administration slaughtered 6 million pigs and destroyed 10 million acres of cotton during a time when people were starving. They did this to bring "balance" to the previously slanted levels of production. He also set up the Public Works Administration which received $3.3 billion for various public works programs (infrastructure), the Civil Works Administration (more infrastructure), the National Youth Administration (government jobs for high school and college students), the Rural Electrification Administration (government money to bring electricity to farms), the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Social Security Act (Madoff-like retirement ponzi scheme), the Tennessee Valley Authority, and many other wasteful government expenditures. The overall effect of these programs was to extend the Great Depression by years and worsen it by billions, if not trillions of dollars.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;You may be thinking that all of these programs did the country a lot of good. After all, we did get some bridges, buildings, and dams out of it. But, stop and think of how much more efficient and less expensive private industry would have been. Private industry could have produced all this and more while providing much needed jobs and income to working families. This would not have been an enormous cost to taxpayers, but a boon to investors, businesses, workers, and the economy as a whole. Consider the speed and efficiency of government programs the next time you try to drive on that highway that has been under construction for as long as you can remember, or when you hear about that monster of all government construction projects - "the big dig".&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;America did eventually get out of the Great Depression, but it was neither FDR nor WWII that did it. What did it was a return to free-market Capitalism in the mid to late 1940's, after the war had ended and the soldiers returned home.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Given the response to these two economic crises and the effects of those responses, what do you think would be the best course of action for the current economic crisis? The government seems to have chosen the Hoover/FDR recession-extension plan of large government and trillions of your dollars. Don't be surprised when the effect of this decision is the same as before.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;President Elect Barack Obama is promising the same level of intervention offered by FDR. The result of FDR's intervention was to extend and exacerbate the recession caused by the Stock Market crash of 1929. The old saying goes, "Those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it."&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Eventually we will return to the free-market and the economy will come roaring back, but why wait? We could easily do that now by supporting legislation such as Representative Gohmert's 2-month tax holiday and the much-lauded Fair Tax. We could add good paying American jobs by producing domestic sources of energy and slashing capital gains taxes to encourage investment. Intelligent plans abound, but intelligent plans require proactive leaders to identify and implement them.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;If our leaders were interested in our growth more than their personal power, they would be supporting pro-growth legislation instead of no-growth government expansion. Bush, for all his faults, protected this country for the last seven and a half years. Now, as Barack Obama is preparing himself to move into the Oval Office, he is appointing members of his team; those who would help him out in the very stressful position he has just attained. He reached into his bag of former Clintonistas and pulled out the name Leon Panetta to head the Central Intelligence Agency. Panetta, a former professor, representative, and Chief of Staff for President Clinton; has exactly zero intelligence experience.&lt;br /&gt;We live in a dangerous world. We all found this out on September 11, 2001. Unfortunately, terrorists are not the only ones on the list. Iran, North Korea, China, Russia, Venezuela, and a host of other nations pose potential threats to the United States in one form or another. To appoint a man with no intelligence experience as the head of the CIA like waving a red flag in front of a bull. He may as well have appointed me to the post. No, scratch that - it would have been better to appoint me; no one knows who I am.&lt;br /&gt;This is a dangerous game and I do not like the prospects of a secure future in America. The recession will weaken us militarily and will only be made worse by this ridiculous "stimulus" package. The proposed head of the CIA is a know-nothing at best. The proposed Secretary of State has never negotiated with a foreign leader in her life. The proposed HHS director is licking his chops at the thought of a bloated, wasteful, fraud-encrusted Universal Health care Plan. The Speaker of the House is as partisan and unfair as a person can get. The Senate Majority Leader is the worst decision maker on earth. On top of all this, add a President who has practically no experience and you get a recipe for disaster.&lt;br /&gt;It is up to you and me to right the nation. Remember, we do have power here, as scant and fading as it may seem. Thomas Jefferson said it best, "All tyranny needs to gain a foothold is for people of good conscience to remain silent." We must not remain silent. The Pilgrims left England to get away from a church which had traded in Christ's forgiveness and grace for cold ceremony, pride, and power. They believed the Bible and fiercely defended their faith. For leaving the church, they were spied upon, threatened, and jailed.&lt;br /&gt;One hundred fifty six years after the Pilgrims arrived, the Framers declared independence from England. The tyranny of a king was a deviation from natural liberty and a violation of their faith. They believed this so deeply that they were willing to sacrifice all to create a new nation built around natural liberty and supported by Judeo-Christian ethics. The freedoms we enjoy today come from their belief in God as evidenced by the very words of the Founders themselves saying, "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness."&lt;br /&gt;Our history is one steeped in the Christian faith. To abandon Him is madness as evidenced by the moral decay our country is experiencing. I believe Dr. Benjamin Rush was absolutely correct when he stated, "The only foundation for... a republic is to be laid in religion. Without this there can be no virtue, without virtue there can be no liberty, and liberty is the object and life of all republican governments."&lt;br /&gt;We are kicking God out of the country and look at the results. When He is absent from school, violence ensues; when He is absent from the courtroom, injustice reigns; when he is absent from government, corruption is sovereign. When all the good is gone, there's nothing left but the bad.&lt;br /&gt;In 2006, according to an Internet pornography statistics &lt;a href="http://www.internet-filter-review.toptenreviews.com/internet-pornography-statistics.html"&gt;website&lt;/a&gt;, the worldwide porn industry is larger than Microsoft, Google, Amazon, eBay, Yahoo!, Apple, Netflix, and Earthlink... &lt;em&gt;combined&lt;/em&gt;. The number of pornographic movie titles released has grown from 1,300 in 1988 to over 13,000 in 2005. But porn is not the only problem.&lt;br /&gt;Gang violence, school shootings, drug and alcohol dependence, crime, and the general breakdown of the nuclear family can all be attributed, in some way, to the secularization of America.&lt;br /&gt;No matter where you look, what you do, or who you are... There is simply no substitute for God. It accomplished this by placing the burden of government where it has always belonged - on the shoulders of the governed; it does so with three simple words...&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;We the people.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;We the people will not allow our liberties to be trampled.&lt;br /&gt;We the people will not allow our Constitution to be undermined.&lt;br /&gt;We the people will have our voices heard.&lt;br /&gt;We the people will reclaim the nation.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;But what will you do?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Will you call or email your representatives and demand they do the right thing, or will you sit on the couch and complain when they do the wrong thing?&lt;br /&gt;Will you educate yourself as to the inner workings of our Republic, or will you remain ignorant of how and why you are free?&lt;br /&gt;Will you vote them out of office if they continue to subvert the Constitution, or will you stay at home on election day because you are too tired or busy?&lt;br /&gt;Will you support the candidate with the best ideas for the country, or will you support the one who will bring the most pork to your district?&lt;br /&gt;Will you sacrifice your time and energy and money to guarantee the continued success of this country for your children and grandchildren, or will you selfishly consume all that is offered without recompense?&lt;br /&gt;I will call; I will learn; I will vote; I will sacrifice; and I will carefully select those who would represent me. If you love this country, you will do the same.&lt;br /&gt;I'll tell you what I will not do. He was quite certain we were headed for utter devastation saying, "The evidence in support of these predictions has now begun to accumulate so massively that meteorologists are hard pressed to keep up with it." The cooling was blamed for an outbreak of tornadoes that killed more than 300 people. Peter seemed incensed that government was unwilling to do anything about it. "Climatologists are pessimistic that political leaders will take any positive action to compensate for the climatic change or even to allay its effects. They concede that some of the more spectacular solutions proposed, such as melting the arctic ice cap by covering it with black soot or diverting arctic rivers, might create problems far greater than those they solve."&lt;br /&gt;Well, government never did do anything about the global cooling that was predicted to kill us all only 33 years ago. Looking back, it's easy to see that any money spent on stopping global cooling would have been wasted as best. At worst, it would have been spent to dump millions of tons of soot on the arctic ice cap in order to cause it to melt. That seems silly to us now, because we're prepared to spend billions to prevent it from melting.&lt;br /&gt;Does everyone remember the holes we were blowing in the Ozone layer with spray deodorant and air conditioning? The &lt;a href="http://www.abc.net.au/science/articles/2008/09/17/2367117.htm"&gt;Ozone hole over Antarctica&lt;/a&gt; is bigger this year than ever. The brilliant scientists over at the &lt;a href="http://www.wmo.int/pages/index_en.html"&gt;World Meteorological Organization&lt;/a&gt; (WMO) are in a mad dash to blame greenhouse gas emissions and the rise in temperature for the widening hole. I suspect the reason for this is because the last two years of cooling have all but &lt;a href="http://www.dailytech.com/Temperature+Monitors+Report+Widescale+Global+Cooling/article10866.htm"&gt;wiped out any warming&lt;/a&gt; that has taken place. You have to plan for the future and you can't let the multi-billion dollar industry that is enviro-wackoism just fall by the wayside because your lies are exposed. You have to really crack down on the truth-tellers by disseminating more fear and lies, but, what do I know?&lt;br /&gt;What I do know is this, the old deodorant and air conditioners worked better. Lord knows, we are going to need both of those to face the greatest threat of mankind... &lt;a href="http://www.independent.co.uk/environment/climate-change/cow-emissions-more-damaging-to-planet-than-cosub2sub-from-cars-427843.html"&gt;cow flatulence&lt;/a&gt;.&lt;br /&gt;It seems like everything we do, every innovation we make, every freedom we have causes some global crisis. We are cooling, warming, depleting, and otherwise destroying our planet. The only proposals advanced to solve the problem grow government in some shape or fashion. The problem is Capitalism and freedom. The solution is regulation, Socialism, taxes, and tyranny.&lt;br /&gt;Am I the only one who is seeing a pattern here? We give... they take. We create... they destroy. We promote freedom and love... they use those terms to promote subjection and fear.&lt;br /&gt;The only global crisis I am afraid of is the spread of the most deadly and destructive disease ever before seen on Earth. Liberalism harms more than it helps everywhere it is spread. His appointments, with the possible exception of National Security, are Marxist on their most conservative days; his proposals are straight out of FDR's depression-extension handbook.; his beliefs on American exceptionalism are nonexistent; his faith in the ability and willingness of Americans, given the freedom, to pull this country back on its feet is absent; and his economic philosophy is gleaned from the pages of The Communist Manifesto.&lt;br /&gt;I hear a lot of people saying that we have lost a generation of good judges to a liberal president. Barack Obama is going to appoint a giant pack of leftists to fill the vacancies that remain after Bush's nominees were strategically filibustered or otherwise not confirmed. Not to mention all the new vacancies that will crop up when a bunch of current leftists decide this is a good time to retire.&lt;br /&gt;This applies not only to judges, but to any and all powers granted to the President. The Buffalo News released an editorial entitled, "Obama Gets It", which discusses the idea that finally, we have a President who understands that our energy policy is "one in the same" with our environmental policy. So he is appointing a bunch of carbon-Nazis to create and administer our energy policy. As if the industry wasn't clogged with enough bureaucracy, he is appointing people who will guarantee we have a massive amount of waste and fraud via their no-growth policies.&lt;br /&gt;Barack Obama and the liberal left has declared war on conservatism and liberty. They have armed themselves with fear tactics, guilt-inducing propaganda, and downright bullying. The battle is being waged in our courts, in our schools, and on our televisions. Their goal is the annihilation of liberty, the forced removal of private property, the termination individual rights, and the insertion of an all-powerful, centralized government; in a word... tyranny.&lt;br /&gt;Well, that may be true, but do not be afraid. We only lose that which we do not fight to keep. It's all a matter of what we are passionate enough to fight for. Don't accept the mistaken impression that the President of the United States runs the country... we, the people run the country. If we do nothing then we have lost it all. However, if we band together and fight, we can keep any freedom that is under attack. Children were dressed up and a band played. Santa Claus was waving to the excited crowds while a hot air balloon sporting a large picture of Jesus Christ floated lazily against the backdrop of an almost cloudless sky. Sounds nice... I would like to attend such an event. I'm sure there were protesters. After all, you can't just go around showing pictures of Jesus in America anymore; separation of church and state and all that.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;But, I was curious. What dastardly mayor was allowing this obvious violation to go unchecked? Clearly this was not happening in any of our more secular states such as Washington or California. Perhaps it was happening in unruly Oklahoma or Texas; you know how &lt;em&gt;those&lt;/em&gt; people are. It could have been the bitter clingers in Pennsylvania or Ohio. But, it was none of those.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Actually, this celebration was occurring in Baghdad... no, not Baghdad, Kansas; this was the first ever Christmas celebration in Baghdad, Iraq. Interestingly, most of the attendants were Muslim, but they were out there celebrating their freedom by celebrating our Savior. Major General Abdul Karim Khalaf, Iraq's Interior Ministry spokesman, was quoted by Mrs. Dougherty as saying, "All Iraqis are Christians today!" He went on to say, "Now that we have crossed that hurdle and destroyed the incubators of terrorism, and the security situation is good, we have to go back and strengthen the community ties."&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Some children were singing "We are building Iraq!" While others built a display depicting a terrorist plot to blow up a school being foiled, complete with soldiers, police, a bomb-sniffing dog, and one very dead bad guy. Another display entitled "Baghdad Today", showed a wedding, a market, and a mosque; all free from the fear of a bomb attack.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;This is what the exhilaration of freedom looks like! They are excited and looking forward to a rich, prosperous, and terror-free future. I say, "God bless" these freedom-loving people and can't help but recall all the nay-sayers who said this once oppressed country couldn't handle liberty. It's like spring cleaning in the middle of December. The GOP is getting a great look at who's true blue (or red, as it were). Pat Buchanan just wrote a column about how we're a bunch of idiots because we don't want to nationalize the auto industry. He just doesn't seem to understand that free-market capitalism in under attack and with comments like that, he is helping to attack it. &lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;The idea of using public funds to bail out private industry should be sickening to any free-market capitalist. If it's not sickening to you, you're not a free-market capitalist... sorry, but you're not.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;If a company, any company, is failing; it is our duty to let it fail. It is doing so for a reason. Even if it is Chrysler, Ford, or GM. Of course, it would be a trial for our economy, but it needs to happen... our economy will be stronger for it.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;Anyone who is for a bailout is against our free-market society. Additionally, anyone who is for someone (like Obama) who is against our free-market society, should call themselves what they are... Socialists. I was appalled at the treatment Sarah Palin received. She is a free-market capitalist, and someone we desperately need to have on our side.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;It is time for some spring cleaning. I have made a list of tired, old dust bunnies we need to sweep from the garage.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;This list includes, but is not limited to:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;David Brooks, who said, "... Sarah Palin... represents the old resentments and the narrow appeal of conventional Republicanism. As a result, Democrats now control the middle." &lt;span style="font-style: italic;"&gt;New York Times, 10/26/08&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Christopher Buckley, who said, "Sarah Palin is an embarrassment, and a dangerous one at that." The Daily Beast, 10/10/08&lt;br /&gt;David Frum, who said, "Ms. Palin's experience in government makes Barack Obama look like George C. Marshall." &lt;span style="font-style: italic;"&gt;The National Post [Canada], 8/29/08&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Peggy Noonan, who said of Obama, "He climbed steep stairs, born off the continent with no father to guide, a dreamy, abandoning mother, mixed race, no connections. He rose with guts and gifts. He is steady, calm, and ... he shows good judgment in terms of whom to hire and consult, what steps to take and moves to make." &lt;span style="font-style: italic;"&gt;Wall Street Journal, 10/29/08&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Kathleen Parker, who said, "I love Obama for his style, grace, intellect and his way with words. I want the healing power that an Obama Presidency could deliver to this country." &lt;span style="font-style: italic;"&gt;syndicated column, 9/19/08&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;And now I sadly have to include Pat Buchanan. Why, Pat, why?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt; &lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;Barney Frank has called for "welfare" for the auto workers. They don't need welfare, they just need to work like everyone else. My question is, what is the difference between Barney Frank and these so called Republican? I'll answer that for you... nothing.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I, as a conservative... a "real" conservative, approach the future with a sense of optimism. I look forward to our impending revolution. Now that we have cleaned out the garage, it's time to start anew. There is nothing like a fresh start. To quote the greatest conservative who ever lived... Obviously, due to the recent economic crisis, our current system of doing thing is not working. I have a new idea. It will require massive support, but given the proper support, I think it just might work. &lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;What if we gave the producers of goods and services the ability to actually &lt;em&gt;own and control&lt;/em&gt; the means of production through some sort of private ownership entity? You'll have to follow my logic here. &lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;Imagine you have an idea for a new product. Instead of asking the government to produce it for you; you could actually purchase a structure (building, land, house... whatever) that you would own yourself and make the new product - which you would own. You could then sell that product to other people! We'll call this new structure a "private business". Who knows, maybe you could even ask other people to give you money in exchange for a share in your business. We could call those people "investors".  (Pardon the new terminology)&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;I think this could work. Of course, there would be pitfalls. What if people don't want to buy your product? We could always have the government force people to buy your product; like the way we do with carbon-credits and mortgage industries. &lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;Oh, wait! I've got it! We could just let the business fail. After all, if people don't want it the way it is, why should they be force to dole out money in order to preserve it? That kind of undermines the "freedom" aspect of this crazy, new idea doesn't it? Also, allowing weak businesses to fail would actually strengthen the overall economy wouldn't it?&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;Now the only thing my idea needs is an appropriate title. What should I call it? It would work a lot like the current marketplace, only people would be free to choose what they purchase. Almost like a free-market... hey, I like that! Also, it seems to be capital focused, but I've always wanted an "ism" to call my very own. How does capital-ism sound? Well, I have to admit, it sounds a little weird, but we'll get used to it after a while. Let's try it out:&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt; &lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;Free-market Capitalism. &lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt; &lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;Wow, I might be on to something here. &lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;Let's call the President, the House of Representatives, and the Senate and tell them to give it a try. Not quite Mr. G; the last time I checked, Toyota and Honda were cruising along just fine. Sure, they might have taken a hit from the Democrat-caused world financial "crisis", but your problems stem from the fact that it costs GM, Ford, and Chrysler almost twice as much to employ your workers than it costs Toyota and Honda to employ theirs. Why does it cost twice as much? Greed, Mr. Gettelfinger, greed.&lt;br /&gt;So, what do we do about it? I think it's time to whip out that old, dusty copy of Ayn Rand's "Atlas Shrugged" and take a lesson in free-market capitalism. It is time to throw off the anchor of Unionized Labor and rise back to the surface.&lt;br /&gt;America has been duped into thinking unionized labor is a good thing. Other than drag good businesses down into the toilet, what have the union bosses accomplished? Let's look at a couple of examples:&lt;br /&gt;Education, controlled by unions, has failed.&lt;br /&gt;The American auto industry, controlled by unions, has failed.&lt;br /&gt;The airline industry, controlled by unions, has failed.&lt;br /&gt;This is not a coincidence. Big Union is driving up the cost of doing business. In the auto industry, it has done so to such an extent that the industry itself is teetering on the edge of collapse. So, they have to come to us for a bailout and I, for one, say NO!&lt;br /&gt;Let them file for bankruptcy, renegotiate their union contracts, rewrite their business plan, and renew the industry. A bailout is only going to delay the inevitable. It is akin to giving a patient with appendicitis a bottle of hydrocodone. Sure, he's not going to feel the pain, but he's going to be dead soon. You have to cure the ailment; you have to excise the diseased organ; you have to remove the root cause of the problem. In this case, it's the greedy union.&lt;br /&gt;In order to function, the auto industry needs workers, they need management, they need suppliers, and they need customers. What they don't need is an unnecessary liaison getting in the way.&lt;br /&gt;We live in the age of the open door policy. Most employers understand the need to treat their workers right. If not, there are laws on the books to support employees and protect them from unscrupulous employers. Union bosses only get in the way. They are only there to suck money off the workers under the guise of helping them. Let me ask you this: When the unions put the auto manufactures out of business, who is going to hire all the newly unemployed? Who put them out on the street? The American taxpayer is tired of subsidizing failure. We are tired of fear and panic driving Washington to our wallets. We are tired of being led to the dried-up watering hole of Socialism. These bailouts have to stop. The big 3 don't need them. What they need is to either fail or survive on their own, just like the rest of us. They need to renegotiate their union contracts and find a way to make cars for a reasonable amount of money. &lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;It costs American car manufacturers over $70.00 per hour to produce a car while it costs Honda and Toyota under $50.00. There is something wrong with the math here. Last year GM and Toyota sold the same number of cars, 9.37 million worldwide. GM lost $38.7 billion while Toyota made $17.7 billion.&lt;span style="font-size:78%;"&gt;(1)&lt;/span&gt; That looks like a failure in leadership to me. It looks like someone down at GM doesn't know when to say "no."&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;I can't imagine having any respect for a company that can't control its own budget. You can try to blame the unions for being greedy if you want, and they ARE greedy; but it was management that accepted the union deal.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;I look at the big 3 like I would any panhandler. I wouldn't mind giving you some money if I didn't think you were going to buy crack with it. The "crack" in my analogy is big union pay-offs. It's like anesthesia for Capitalism. &lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;If the CEO's of these companies take my taxpayer dollars to fund their failure, I'm going to have a difficult time buying any of their products. In fact, I may organize a boycott of their products until such time as they start acting like a responsible company. I can promise you this: I WILL NOT purchase a government-produced car. &lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;It seems to me, the sure-fire path to failure is for these CEO's to take the taxpayers money and let a "car czar" tell them what to manufacture. The only way these companies are going to make it is if they take responsibility for their actions, restructure their companies, and start making sense. Well, the slogan would now make a fitting title for quite a few Democrat autobiographies. Blagojevich obviously has some sort of mental disorder or a level of narcissism previously unheard of for thinking he was going to get away with attempting to sell Obama's vacated Senate seat for personal gain. I believe this man doesn't have a single thought, let alone take an action, unless it means personal enrichment. I thought the Republicans were the greedy ones!&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Charlie Rangel is neck deep in scandal. He chose not to pay income tax on $75,000 in rental income from a beach house he owns. He is using official letterhead to assist in fundraising efforts. He has unethically used rent-stabilized apartments for personal as well as official business, all the while claiming his D.C. home as his primary residence. Now, as if that weren't enough, the ethics committee has expanded their investigation to include a sweetheart deal with an oil company which saved them millions in taxes. All of this, just this year, from the chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee. Yes, the same man who is under investigation for tax fraud is chairman of the chief tax-writing committee in the House of Representatives. Ironic, isn't it? Can you say, "conflict of interest"?&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;In 2006, Mark Foley lost his seat in Florida's 16th district during a scandal in which he sent sexually suggestive instant messages to a Congressional Page. The Democrats went into a tizzy; calling the disgraced Republican every name in the book. Democrat Tim Mahoney campaigned for that same seat on a "morals and values" platform using the slogan "Restoring America's Values Begins at Home." He won the seat in 2006 and apparently wasted little time in being corrupted. News broke just before the election that this moral and virtuous man, who was going to "restore America's values, beginning at home", committed adultery and allegedly paid his mistress $121,000 for her cooperation and silence. He lost his seat in 2008 in the resulting scandal. I don't remember a Democrat tizzy resulting from Mr. Mahoney's immorality; I guess this type of thing is expected among Democrats.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt; &lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;Congressman William Jefferson of Louisiana was indicted on 16 counts of bribery, obstruction of justice, money laundering, wire fraud, and racketeering. Does that fall into the "corruption" category? Let's not mention the $90,000 in "cold" cash found in his freezer. Fortunately, the voters in the Pelican State decided to toss &lt;em&gt;him&lt;/em&gt; out in the cold.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt; &lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;Dodd, Frank, Clinton (Bill), and even Carter play a central role in the toppling economy. If government intervention into the mortgage industry authored by these men hadn't occurred, we would not be in this mess. Carter created the game with his Community Reinvestment Act which pressured banks to give loans to people who can't afford it. Clinton exacerbated it by repealing the Glass-Steagall Act which launched sub-prime lending into the stratosphere. Meanwhile, Chris Dodd and Barney Frank are blaming free markets and a lack of regulation for the crisis. A lack of regulation? Are you serious? Their solution is corrupt government regulation to cover corrupt government policy! Oh yeah, and blame the Republicans; that always fits nicely in there somewhere.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Al Gore and Joe Biden's level of ineptitude is practically criminal. The carbon-Nazi has been lying to us about the ridiculous piece of fiction that is Global Warming for so long, I don't even want to think about it, when he's not busy taking massive and illegal donations from monks who have sworn a vow of poverty.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The gaffe-prone Biden has been wielding the sword of Liberalism to hack away at freedom since 1972 when &lt;span style="font-style: italic;"&gt;he's&lt;/span&gt; not busy plagiarising speeches and making a mockery of the Christian faith with his anti-life theology.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I could go on and on, but the point is made. According to the AP, Obama said, [Global Warming is] “not only a problem, but it's also an opportunity." Just imagine how wonderfully the economy will be stimulated by a bunch of government-works jobs funded by taxpayer dollars. I just now closed my eyes to try to imagine the bliss and a gruesome visage popped into my head. I think it was FDR. &lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;I’m pretty sure it’s mathematically impossible to spend your way out of debt. When I make less money, I spend less to make up the difference. Using taxpayer money to fund so-called “green jobs” in an attempt to stimulate the economy is unviable at best and dangerous for our nation’s security at worst. It’s like borrowing $100 from your friend because you owe him $50. &lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;The AP also quoted Obama as saying, "We all believe what the scientists have been telling us for years now, that this is a matter of urgency and national security, and it has to be dealt with in a serious way," &lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;The scientists are saying this is a matter of national security? Which scientists are those? The ongoing “Global Warming Petition Project” has over 31,000 scientists which have signed the following petition:&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;o:p&gt; &lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;We urge the &lt;st1:country-region st="on"&gt;United States&lt;/st1:country-region&gt; government to reject the global warming agreement that was written in &lt;st1:place st="on"&gt;&lt;st1:city st="on"&gt;Kyoto&lt;/st1:city&gt;, &lt;st1:country-region st="on"&gt;Japan&lt;/st1:country-region&gt;&lt;/st1:place&gt; in December, 1997, and any other similar proposals. The proposed limits on greenhouse gases would harm the environment, hinder the advance of science and technology, and damage the health and welfare of mankind. &lt;o:p&gt;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p&gt;There is no convincing scientific evidence that human release of carbon dioxide, methane, or other greenhouse gasses is causing or will, in the foreseeable future, cause catastrophic heating of the Earth's atmosphere and disruption of the Earth's climate. From Mayor Daley (both of them) to Obama's questionable dealings with Tony Rezko and now to Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich. Blagojevich has quite possibly beat them all by attempting to sell the Senate seat vacated by President-elect Barack Obama. He is reported to have said "[The Senate seat] is a f***ing valuable thing, you just don't give it away for nothing."&lt;br /&gt;Um, yes you do Governor, that is precisely what you are supposed to do.&lt;br /&gt;President-elect Obama is experiencing some very predictable lapses in memory regarding the issue. The Chicago Tribune reported Obama as saying "I was not aware of what was happening, I had no contact with the governor or his office and so I was not aware of what was happening." That's very Clintonesque of you Mr. President-elect.&lt;br /&gt;I am quite certain this is only the beginning of his memory problems regarding Chicago politics. But I would like to know the extent of Obama's involvement with these shady dealings. Did he instigate the deal? Did he tell Blagojevich he would not offer him anything; after all, the Governor somehow knew that Obama was not going to offer him anything. He must have been speaking with someone. President-elect Obama is a liberal. I know what you are saying, "But, look at the people he is appointing to his cabinet" or, even better; "Give him a chance to govern before you condemn his ideology." To the latter I say, "No, I'll condemn his ideology any time I want." To the former I have only one word... strategy. It's disarming to conservatives and liberals alike. He wants you to think he is a centrist, but make no mistake; Obama is a liberal. There is simply no doubt about it.&lt;br /&gt;He has all the makings of a liberal, from his ego to his elitism to his messianic self-delusion. Keep in mind, we are talking about the most liberal member of the United States Senate. Yes, the one who is good buddies with unrepentant terrorist, William Ayers. Yes, the one who voted to make sure doctors could kill babies born alive in spite of an abortion attempt. Yes, the very one who wants to "spread the wealth around." He is and will always be the Alinsky reading, Acorn funding, community agitating, neo-marxist he was in the past.  Like a wolf in sheep's clothing, he will spring out and reveal himself at just the right time. If we are not prepared for it, we'll be eaten before we have a chance to defend ouselves. Be neither fooled nor placated.&lt;br /&gt;He is bad for our individual rights. He is bad for this free-market economy. He is bad for this nation. A path is chosen where the proverbial “fork in the road” lies. You have three choices when you arrive at this point. The great Yogi Berra once said, “If you come to a fork in the road, take it.” Unfortunately, that is not one of our options. You can either go left or right; or you can just stand where you are, doing nothing.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt; &lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p  style="margin-bottom: 0in;font-family:times new roman;" align="left"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:100%;"&gt;Our country is staring at that fork right now. We can go left, down the “progressive” path where government is “mommy dearest” and supplies her “children” with all their hopes and dreams. This, of course, is Socialism and it inevitably le&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:100%;"&gt;ads to failure. Worse yet, once Socialism takes root, it sprouts and grows into Communism. Then we will all be equal... equally destitute and enslaved. If you think I am paranoid, consider the words of Nikita Khrushchev, “We can't expect the American People to jump from Capitalism to Communism, but we can assist their elected leaders in giving them small doses of Socialism, until they awaken one day to find that they have Communism.”&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt; &lt;/p&gt; &lt;p  style="margin-bottom: 0in;font-family:times new roman;" align="left"&gt;&lt;span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);font-size:100%;" &gt;Another option is to stand and do nothing, but even a small child know that if it's not moving, it's dead. So, that is not really an option if your goal is a successful, productive America.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p  style="margin-bottom: 0in;font-family:times new roman;" align="left"&gt;&lt;span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);font-size:100%;" &gt;The last, and most viable option, is the right path. This is the path taken by our forefathers. The path of liberty. We all know where that path leads. It leads to prosperity, opportunity, and good fortune for all who make the choice to participate. The only problem this this option is that you have to actively pursue it. You have to make daily strides to keep it in place. You have to work.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p  style="margin-bottom: 0in;font-family:times new roman;" align="left"&gt;&lt;span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);font-size:100%;" &gt;The brilliant Walter Williams, in an article entitled “Ignorance Reigns Supreme”&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);font-size:100%;" &gt;&lt;sup&gt;(1)&lt;/sup&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);font-size:100%;" &gt;, examines the depressing results of a national survey, “Our Fading Heritage: Americans Fail a Basic Test on Their History and Institutions”, conducted by the Intercollegiate Studies Institute (ISI). Apparently only 21 percent of survey respondents knew that the phrase “government of the people, by the people, for the people.” comes from President Abraham Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address and a mere 27 percent know the Bill of Rights expressly prohibits establishing an official religion for the United States.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p  style="margin-bottom: 0in;font-family:times new roman;" align="left"&gt;&lt;span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);font-size:100%;" &gt;This shocking display of ignorance reveals the heart of the problem we are facing. America, through laziness and inaction, has begun to commit suicide. The solution does not just lie in a history lesson; although, that is a good start. The solution is action on the part of all freedom-loving people. It's not good enough to simply go to work every day and mind your own business. You have to get involved. Educate yourself on the subject of American history and freedom; then act on that education. Take advantage of the opportunities afforded to you. Educate your friends and family. Educate your coworkers. &lt;/span&gt; &lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p  style="margin-bottom: 0in;font-family:times new roman;" align="left"&gt;&lt;span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);font-size:100%;" &gt;This nation is ours to enjoy and ours to maintain. If we do nothing, it will be taken from us. Luke tells us in Chapter 12, Verse 48, “From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked.” Wise words for an unwise country. &lt;/span&gt; &lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p  style="margin-bottom: 0in;font-family:times new roman;" align="left"&gt;&lt;span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);font-size:100%;" &gt;So, here we stand at the fork in the road. What will we do? What will you do? How, I would like to ask, are the green-freaks going to frighten us into donating millions for that cause?&lt;br /&gt;The green movement, to me, represents the most dangerous ponzi scheme in the world. If you don't give money to the green-freaks, shut down the energy producing sectors of our economy, shut down the energy consuming sectors of our economy, and immediately run out and purchase the first 0 to 60 in five hours electric death trap you can find, we're all going to burst into flames. For the low, low price of reverting back to the stone age, we get to keep on living. Garbage... all of it. From the ozone layer to global warming to running out of fish; it's all garbage.&lt;br /&gt;I remember when I was a kid and being told about the ozone layer, how it was disappearing, and how we were all going to have to wear space-suits by 2015. We changed the type of refrigerant we used and looked at spray deodorant as if it were the progeny of Cain. I believed it; all of it. Then I grew up and learned that ozone is actually generated at certain altitudes by, get this, UV rays from the Sun! Yes, ozone regenerates itself. My fears were slain; but my outrage was born.&lt;br /&gt;How dare you lie to me! And for what... money? power? fame? Needless to say, when I first heard of global warming; I immediately knew it to, was a lie. A lie for the exact same reasons. Just in case you don't already know, here is the lie.&lt;br /&gt;The Earth is warming up; and man is the cause of it.&lt;br /&gt;Yes, mankind is the largest contributor to weather on Earth. Never mind the fact that every scientist with a brain contributes the majority of weather to the Sun; never mind the fact that the most abundant greenhouse gas, by far, is water vapor; and never mind the fact that carbon dioxide (that stuff you exhale) contributes almost nothing to the greenhouse effect.(2) The wackos would have you believe you are exhaling (and plants are inhaling) a toxin, a poison, a noxious vapor.&lt;br /&gt;I have never understood how we can predict what the weather is going to be like in 50 years; yet, no one can reasonably predict what it will be like next week. There is something else going on here, something sinister. Fortunately, we bypassed the economy-crushing Kyoto Protocol, but I would like to know what is next. What is the plan? Why are they trying to scare us?&lt;br /&gt;I contend that their sole purpose is to remove you from your freedom. All of their proposed policies do exactly that. From smaller, deadlier cars to purchasing carbon offsets to crushing economy-busting treaties; they are all designed to take away your freedom.&lt;br /&gt;We cannot let this happen. We MUST educate ourselves. If it looks like a fear tactic, it probably is... don't buy into it. Examine it for yourself, use your God-given ability to reason, and make your own, personal judgment. The words are burned into our collective mind. The sense of freedom they inspire are a birthright to any American. But what is freedom? What does it mean to be an American?&lt;br /&gt;Freedom, at its most basic level, is your ability for you to be you, completely and individually. Leadership does not grow from an aggregate; leadership can only grow from the watering-can of individualism. The founders, who wrote the pristine document which frames our nation, were individuals. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., who led a people to claim their right to be free and equal Americans, was an individual. Mohandas Gandhi, who freed an entire nation from the chains of tyranny, was an individual. Few are the examples, but great is their impact.&lt;br /&gt;Why are the examples so few? In a word... courage. It takes courage to be an individual; to stand up for what you believe in. Can you imagine the obstacles the founders of this nation had to overcome or the persecution Dr. King had to endure? Place yourselves in the Mahatma's sandals, with an entire nation to lead to freedom; could you overcome, endure, and lead?&lt;br /&gt;Considering the enormous weight these men had on their shoulders, is it any wonder that America is a little miffed at the weakness shown by the leaders we have elected? No, it is no wonder at all. And how, pray tell, does this weakness manifest itself? In a word... bipartisanship. Bipartisanship is “reaching across the aisle”. Excuse me, but I did not vote for someone so he could reach across the aisle, I voted for someone so he could defend the principles he spoke so eloquently about in the campaign. Bipartisanship, as far as I see it, is the spaghetti-spined, weak-willed defense of ones elected post.&lt;br /&gt;Imagine if General Washington were bipartisan. Imagine if he had run up the white flag and gone over to see General Howe in Boston in February of 1776 and offered a “fair” and “impartial” resolution to this unseemly war. We would not be sitting here, reading this in a separate and free nation.&lt;br /&gt;Imagine if Dr. King had pulled back from his beliefs in and equitable treatment of &lt;em&gt;&lt;strong&gt;all&lt;/strong&gt; &lt;/em&gt;Americans. American blacks would still be drinking from separate water fountains and riding in the back of the bus.&lt;br /&gt;Imagine if Gandhi had negotiated with the tyrants in an evenhanded attempt to be fair. India would not currently be recognized as the largest democracy in the world.&lt;br /&gt;Ridiculous notions all.&lt;br /&gt;When I elect a representative, I expect him to represent my ideals, my desires, and my vision. I expect him to lead. I expect him to be an individual.&lt;br /&gt;Individualism is the mother of greatness and greatness can only occur among free people. It could mean large in size, number, or extent; of major significance; remarkable or out of the ordinary; or it could be used to describe a person who has achieved unparalleled distinction and honor in a specific field. It is a term so commonly used that its power has been diminished and its meaning, jaded. This is why I hesitate to use it to describe something as immensely powerful, as enormously influential, and as empyreal as American Small Business.&lt;br /&gt;If you have ever read the essay “I, Pencil” by Leonard E. Read, then you already know the miracles uninhibited creativity can bring. What Mr. Read is describing is the organizational power of free men which drives our technological world. One can scarcely open his eyes without fixing them on something brought to you by small business. Your carpets and ceiling tiles, your door hinges and the oil to quiet them, and even that little piece of plastic on the end of your shoe lace – all brought to you, in some way, through the industriousness of small business.&lt;br /&gt;In a multitude of time and through a multitude of ways, small business has made your life better, and in some instances, possible. Even the big businesses we see every day could not function if not supported by small businesses; indeed, most of them were small businesses at one time. Have you ever heard of Walton's five and dime? I'll bet you have; we call it Wal-Mart now. Do you think General Electric started off as a giant, multinational company? Of course not.&lt;br /&gt;Small business is big. As of 2005, there were roughly 25.8 million businesses in the U.S. while only 17,000 of those can be considered big businesses. Small business employs half of all private sector employees and produces 13 to 14 times as many patents per employee than large companies. Productive is a good word to describe them. Essential is another.&lt;br /&gt;The driving force behind small business is freedom. Without it, creativity loses its potency and all that we take for granted begins to fade. How do you squelch creative force? How do you stop the production lines? How do you remove our freedom? You tax it.&lt;br /&gt;Obama told us in the campaign that he would cut taxes for 95% of families and small businesses. However, he has also said that he would do nothing while President Bush's tax relief expires. Now, I'm no mathematician, but when I pay a higher percentage of my income to the government in the form of taxes, I call that a tax increase! We simply cannot let that happen. There is too much at stake. Our economy is driven by small business and small business is driven by freedom.&lt;br /&gt;It was Benjamin Franklin who said, “They who would give up an essential liberty for temporary security, deserve neither liberty or security.” How right he was. I am not complaining about the money, I can always go make more money. I am complaining about government intrusions upon my liberty. There is no magic program, no grand idea, no bailout that will make everything OK. The only thing government can do that will help, is nothing. If freedom built the American economy, why would less freedom help when it is in trouble? Considering government is the cause of the economic dilemma we are facing, why would anyone think the government can provide a solution? When I say government is the cause, I'm not just talking about Freddy and Fannie, I'm not just talking about CAFE standards for the auto industry, and I'm not just talking about oppressive taxation. I'm talking about the insane notion that anyone can spend themselves into prosperity.&lt;br /&gt;Imagine you make $1000 per week and spend $1200 per week. Obviously, you cannot sustain that without eventually going bankrupt. So, you sit down one Sunday afternoon and decide to do something about your economic situation. You think and think and finally come up with a brilliant solution. You will go to the bank and borrow $10,000. With the extra money, you can sustain yourself for an additional 50 weeks. Fantastic! You can also hire someone to clean your home, and someone else to tend your garden. Problem solved, right?&lt;br /&gt;You would have to be completely insane to think that would solve your problem. The best scenario is that you have merely put off the problem. The worst, and more likely, scenario is that you have compounded the problem and ensured your eventual bankruptcy.&lt;br /&gt;That is what our government is currently doing. When the government spends money, it is only compounding the problem. It does not create anything, by its very nature it cannot create anything. What the government gets, it gets because you and I have created something. Every time the government does something to fix the problem, it does so with either our money or with borrowed money. When spending doesn't work, the politicians spend more. When that doesn't work, they spend even more. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over but expecting a different result. If you want a different outcome, you have to change your plan.&lt;br /&gt;The American people are the solution to this problem. If Obama came out tomorrow and said he is going to change his plan and cut corporate and capital gains taxes, American business would respond immediately with new investments and the economy would begin to recover. The only real solution the government can offer is to get out of the way and let Americans do what Americans do.&lt;br /&gt;Every time Capitalism is tried, it succeeds. When Reagan took over in 1981, interest rates were staggeringly high. Unemployment was also high and not surprisingly, so were taxes. When you want something to stop happening, tax it and it will stop. Prosperity was taxed and prosperity stopped happening. So Reagan cut taxes and so began the longest period of peacetime prosperity ever in American history.&lt;br /&gt;The government desperately needs to stop doing things. It needs to get out of the way and let Americans do things. A’s will get, say, $10 and B’s will get $5. I doubt anyone pays for C’s and D’s and I am quite positive no one pays for F’s. An “F” means you failed. That’s OK if you can use it as a motivator to learn, grow, and achieve; but imagine a world where parents paid their kids to fail. There would be nothing but failure.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;That is essentially what a bailout is. A bailout is the taxpayer subsidizing corporate failure. Unfortunately, that’s not the whole story.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Now imagine if parents and teachers conspired to give kids all the wrong answers thus causing the failure; then blaming the kid for failing; punishing the kid for failing; then paying the kid for the “F”. What would happen? Not only would the kid be on drugs in an attempt to medicate the confusion away, but he or she would inevitably get worse in school, be completely unable to pass and ultimately be forced to rely on his or her unreliable parents and teachers.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;That is what is happening in our markets today. The parents and teachers are the government and the kids are the industries involved. Let me explain starting with the mortgage industry…&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Right now the federal government is forcing banks to give loans to people regardless of their ability to pay. People who have a difficult time paying their bills, for whatever reason, also have a difficult time saving money. As a result, there are a substantial number of houses that are 100% (or more) financed. When housing prices dropped, the houses were over-funded and the credit markets froze. (Sure, there are better explanations out there, but you get the general point.) What does the government do? They step in, blame corporate greed, blame Wall Street, and throw your money at it.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Next we have the auto industry. The federal government is forcing auto manufacturers to meet a ridiculous set of fuel efficiency standards called the CAFE standards (Corporate Average Fuel Economy) which forces auto manufacturers to prematurely re-tool their factories in an effort to meet the impossible standards set by the government at a cost of millions of dollars. Now, not surprisingly, they are going broke. What does the government do? They step in, blame corporate greed, blame Wall Street, and throw your money at it.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;What’s next? I’ll tell you. Health care is about to be taken over by the feds and run with the same degree of efficiency as every other government-clogged industry. They will call it “fair” and “the right thing to do”, after all; there are millions of people in this country who currently have no health insurance. Frankly, I would rather have no health insurance than Socialism’s brand of health insurance. Check with England, Canada, and Cuba to find out just how wonderful government health care is. I did check and it’s nothing but long lines and diminished quality; not something you want in a hospital. Not to mention the enormous burden placed on the taxpayer by the bloated agency that will no doubt be created.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;We must avoid this at all cost. We must act! If we speak out with a loud and unified voice they will have no choice but to listen. If they don’t listen the first time, we will keep pushing and pushing until they do listen. If they refuse to listen, we have the power to fire them and take their place. Well, good ole Hank has yet to use the money to buy up these bad mortgages and indeed, has changed his mind about it all together.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p style="margin-bottom: 0in;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p style="margin-bottom: 0in;"&gt;“Over these past weeks we have continued to examine the relative benefits of purchasing illiquid mortgage-related assets,” &lt;span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_1"&gt;Paulson&lt;/span&gt; said. “Our assessment at this time is that this is not the most effective way to use TARP[Troubled Asset Relief Program] funds.”&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p style="margin-bottom: 0in;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p style="margin-bottom: 0in;"&gt;Not the most effective way? That was the purpose of the money; that's why you said you needed it. I smell a rat and now I have some questions.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="margin-bottom: 0in;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p style="margin-bottom: 0in;"&gt;Why was all of America told this?  &lt;/p&gt; &lt;p style="margin-bottom: 0in;"&gt;Was it a lie?  &lt;/p&gt; &lt;p style="margin-bottom: 0in;"&gt;Were we swindled?  &lt;/p&gt; &lt;p style="margin-bottom: 0in;"&gt;Was the entire thing fabricated to do damage to the Bush Administration just before the election?  &lt;/p&gt; &lt;p style="margin-bottom: 0in;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p style="margin-bottom: 0in;"&gt;I'm not sure what it was, but I can tell you what it wasn't... it wasn't an emergency. Were we duped? You bet we were. We were told that we NEEDED to bail out the mortgage industry. We were told that we NEEDED to bail out &lt;span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_2"&gt;AIG&lt;/span&gt;. Now we are being told that we NEED to bail out the Big Three. How are they justifying it? They say “These businesses are too big to fail.” That is a lie; if they were too big to fail, they wouldn't fail! There is no such thing as a company that is too big to fail.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p style="margin-bottom: 0in;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p style="margin-bottom: 0in;"&gt;Well, fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me.  &lt;/p&gt; &lt;p style="margin-bottom: 0in;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p style="margin-bottom: 0in;"&gt;I find it interesting that the liberals hate some companies because they are too big (&lt;span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_3"&gt;Wal&lt;/span&gt;-Mart, Microsoft, Pfizer, etc) and throw billions at others &lt;i&gt;because&lt;/i&gt; they are too big (&lt;span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_4"&gt;AIG&lt;/span&gt;, Fannie Mae, Freddy Mac, GM, and any airline they can get their hands on). How do they decide which they are going to love and which they are going to hate? I think I found the magic formula.  &lt;/p&gt; &lt;p style="margin-bottom: 0in;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p style="margin-bottom: 0in;"&gt;If your company has a solid business model and makes a good profit while providing a valuable product or service, the liberals are going to hate you. If your business is fraught with government regulation, greedy unions, and questionable business practices that provide an opening for government interference, the liberals will love you and send you billions of taxpayer dollars.  &lt;/p&gt; &lt;p style="margin-bottom: 0in;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p style="margin-bottom: 0in;"&gt;Why is this? Because they are Socialists. They are Marxists. They are bent on destroying free-market capitalism. Nationalizing entire industries is one of the ways they plan to do it. They started a long time ago and will not stop until they either succeed or hit an immovable force coming the other way. What is that immovable force? YOU ARE! American resolve has never met it's match. We have had some pretty rough enemies but none are as destructive as the one we face today. There is battle going on for our very freedom, if we don't stand up and fight, we will become slaves of the state. We have already defeated slavery once in this country, let's not go back there again. Liberalism is what they do; it is what they are. Sure, I get frustrated when they do liberal things. I rail when they siphon off half of my paycheck. I fume when they accuse others of the very things they have been doing (bad economics, racism, greed, etc...). I seethe when they steal elections and then perform their victory dance in the street. The problem with all of this; the frustration, railing, fuming, and seething; is that it actually accomplishes nothing. The source of the problem, and the focus of my blame, is conservatives... or should I say, conservative indolence.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Sulking on the couch while you watch "&lt;span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_0"&gt;Hannity&lt;/span&gt; and &lt;span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_1"&gt;Colmes&lt;/span&gt;" every evening is hardly going to repair the damage. Action is what is required. Thomas Jefferson once said, "All tyranny needs to gain a foothold is for people of good conscience to remain silent". People of good conscience... that would be you; the average, hard-working, law-abiding American citizen. You have to stand up. You have to speak out. You have to ACT!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;You have more power than you think you do. You create huge corporations; you employ America; you produce miracle drugs; you built the Hoover Dam, the Empire State Building, the Golden Gate Bridge; you have secured freedom for millions around the world; you wrote the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution and then fought to defend them. You are an American. This is your country. Washington is powerless without you.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;This great nation of ours is now in jeopardy. Will we allow a group of liberal elitists take over our private businesses, our private land, and our private lives; or are we going to fight? Liberty was not won with peace and love and bi-partisanship and that is not how it will be saved. Don't let them talk over you; don't let them label you; and most importantly, don't let them win.
